For many years, H.A.N.D.S. (Help Achieve New Direction and Skills) Auxiliary has been a meaningful part of the Empowering Abilities story. Its dedicated volunteers, supported by generous donors and community partners, have brought people together around a shared purpose: creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Through countless hours of service and fundraising, H.A.N.D.S. raised more than $1 million to support wheelchairs, accessible transportation, production equipment, computers, therapy equipment, and other essential resources. Behind each investment is a person gaining greater independence, developing skills, building confidence, or accessing a new opportunity. That is the lasting impact of H.A.N.D.S.—and a legacy we are proud to carry forward.

A Lasting Commitment to Our Mission

H.A.N.D.S. Auxiliary has transitioned into the Fundraising Events Committee of Empowering Abilities. The same dedicated volunteers who have given so much to this mission are carrying this work forward, bringing their experience, relationships, and enthusiasm into this new chapter.

As a committee of Empowering Abilities, the group is building on that strong foundation while creating opportunities to welcome additional volunteers, explore fresh ideas, and strengthen community partnerships. At its heart, the work remains the same: raising critical funds to support the individuals we serve.

The committee supports fundraising events throughout the year, including our annual trivia night in January and golf outing in June. Funds raised continue to support programs, resources, and experiences that help individuals with disabilities build connections, pursue their goals, and live more independently.
