About H.A.N.D.S. Auxiliary
H.A.N.D.S. (Helping Achieve New Direction and Skill) Auxiliary is a group of volunteers who support Empowering Abilities programs and services by hosting fundraisers throughout the year, including this golf outing. Event proceeds support the mission of Empowering Abilities.
Over the years, HANDS’ donations have totaled well over $1 million and have allowed for the purchase of wheelchairs, vans, production equipment, computers, therapy equipment and much more!

With a strong commitment to accessibility and empowerment, Empowering Abilities works alongside individuals, families, and partners to create a more inclusive and supportive community.
Founded in 1969, Empowering Abilities was established through the merger of four organizations that provided similar services, following the recommendation of a citizens’ study. In November 2023, the organization transitioned from its former name, Handicapped Development Center, to Empowering Abilities, reflecting its evolving mission and commitment to person-centered support.
